Are you paying attention? Have you noticed the Stay-At-Home Orders are now starting to spark protests? This is what happens when you abuse your power and rob people of hope. They lose patience and trust. Many of the restrictions imposed … typically without explanation … don't make sense to the average person. When you purpose to restrict and punish behavior that is not rationally related to sensible emergency measures … it undermines trust and breeds resentment and civil disobedience. Think carefully about what is going on around you. Are your local officials visible? Do they inspire confidence and cooperation? Or are they abusing the power you've entrusted them with? Do they lift you up or are they robbing you of hope?
As members of the private sector and citizen leaders ... is there a way to step in and fill that void for the public good?
