Consider that “our” opinion of what happened to “journalist”, Jamal Khashoggi, is largely informed by Turkish “intelligence”. Understand, our “ally” Turkey, under President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is world’s biggest oppressor of journalists. More than 150 journalists have been imprisoned by Erdogan since July 2016. Erdogan has shut down 180+ media outlets leaving 2,500+ unemployed. The Word Press Freedom Index places Turkey at 157 out of 180 countries ... between Rwanda and Kazakhstan. One third of all imprisoned journalists worldwide are in Turkish prisons. Then, why this Turkish concern over the murder of a ‘foreign’ journalist … and why has the American Left broken their silence about journalist oppression on Turkish soil?
President Erdogan is a "sympather" with and facilitator for the Muslim Brotherhood, as was Jamal Khashoggi. Erdogan has historically provided support to the Brotherhood. He has provided the Brotherhood with: asylum; weapons, and satellite television and radio stations. The very Turkish media outlets I previously referenced. Criminally charged Brotherhood fugitives have been allowed to openly congregate in Turkey and “organize” against the sovereign nations that have "indicted" them. Erdoğan has confirmed his support for the Brotherhood. “It is not an armed group, but…an ideological organization,” he stated in February 2017 interview with Al Arabiya. “There would be no tolerance for the Muslim Brotherhood in Turkey if they had to do with terrorism, and we have not seen or observed any action [from them] that indicates this.” Erdoğan has maintained that the Muslim Brotherhood’s, Mohamed Morsi, was the legitimate leader of Egypt as late as May 2015, (despite his ouster in 2013 by Egyptian General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi). In retaliation, Erdogan and has financially, logistically and territorially supported reinstatement of Brotherhood rule in Egypt.
This isn’t about the death of a journalist. This is about the Muslim Brotherhood and retribution for those who oppose them and their objectives. This is about seizing the opportunity to disrupt the balance of power in the Middle East to the detriment of Israel by disturbing the American / Saudi Arabian alliance.
