March 3 is National Anthem Day. National Anthem Day commemorates the day that we adopted “The Star Spangled Banner” as our National Anthem. "The Star Spangled Banner" was written by Francis Scott Key during the War of 1812. It was inspired by Key's observations during the British bombardment of Fort McHenry near Baltimore on September 13, 1814.The “Star Spangled Banner” became the National Anthem in 1931.
