Good Friday

Today is Good Friday. It is the day celebrated by Christians worldwide commemorating the crucifixion of our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. While Christmas is the celebration of God’s fulfillment of His promise to clothe himself in human flesh, Easter is the celebration of His fulfillment of His promise that He would close the gap between us (God and man) born of sin by being that perfect blood sacrifice to atone for the sins of the world.

One of the most overlooked passages of John 18, which recounts Jesus being taken into Roman custody, is the part where He is approached by Judas, the detachment of Roman soldiers, and “officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. Jesus identifies himself “and they drew back and fell to the ground.” (John 18:6). He knocked them to the ground with the sound of His voice. Understand, know and believe that there is power in His word and name, and remember, no one 'took' His life, He gave it willingly so that He could be in relationship with us.

His sacrifice isn’t, wasn’t and never will be about a particular ‘religion’. Easter is about relationship. He wants to be in relationship with you. So, put down the baskets and bunnies … pick up the cross ... and know that Jesus loves you and so do I.
