From time to time in South Florida we struggle with the mosquito born transmission of Eastern Equine Encephalitis ("EEE"). EEE virus is a cause of brain infections (encephalitis). Most cases occur in eastern or Gulf Coast states. Approximately THIRTY PERCENT (30%) of people with EEE die. Many survivors have ongoing neurological problems. Notwithstanding the near annual detection of the virus in the mosquito population in South Florida, life goes on and toilet paper supply lines go uninterrupted.
