Data Without Doctoring After Dark Dr. David Owen

7/22/2020

Overall a slight but noticeable tightening statewide with an estimated 15.47% ICU bed availability. However it is estimated that only 20% of the total state general beds are covid and this has been stable for the past several days. In the tri-county area general beds have tightened slightly and I would submit this is a result of the normal increase in bed usage we see at the beginning of the week and may not be covid related. ICU usage is tight esp. at Jackson (confirmed no ICU beds) and at one Memorial facility in Broward (1% avail). Otherwise 0-30% availability in Dade, 2-20.55% in Broward with most between 5-15% avail, and 0-47% avail in PBC with most hospitals between 20-45% free in PBC.

General bed usage in the tri-county area with sl. decrease but generally plentiful: Dade-8-34% avail, Broward-1-41%, and PBC 10-45%. My conclusion, so far so good and these numbers do NOT justify anymore closures. One final note about deaths. I haven't a clue how the state arrives at these daily death numbers (which are reported deaths from whenever, not necessarily deaths on the day of report). It may well be that deaths are being counted multiple times, since on only one day has the actual deaths occurring ON THAT DAY been higher than 100. I do not understand how the state comes up with at least 6 days of well over 100 deaths in the past two weeks. Perhaps these reported deaths will be reassigned back to the day they actually occurred, resulting in an increase in deaths on that particular day. As an example, todays count of 136 may have contained deaths which were already tabulated in the total of 132 a few days ago and have therefore been counted twice.

For now, I'm going to go with the FAU data as the real McCoy and combine that data with the erroneous data provided by the state to arrive at some conclusion (pray for me). _____ www.frankcastingmediagroup.com www.frankmulhall.com
