Data Without Doctoring

Data Without Doctoring Dr. David Owen 09/19/2020

Very late morning update: Continued decline in hospitalizations statewide and in the tricounty area with the usual low number of reported deaths due to the weekend. %covid beds statewide is down to 5.07%, the lowest yet. Hospitalizations continue a significant downward trend in all three counties but esp. Dade. Deaths in Dade, however, continue to be over twice the combined deaths in the other two counties!! Of interest, the number of covid beds statewide is down about 2/3rds from number two months ago and the trend continues downward. As long as the actual bed numbers remain in a downtrend, then there really is little to be gained from analyzing general and ICU bed usage at this time as any tightness in bed usage would be secondary to non-covid causes as we would see during the season. Two weeks from the Labor day weekend reveals no spike in covid cases, and allowing for a couple day asymptomatic prodrome with a couple day onset of symptoms, perhaps out to a week, at most, there is little chance of any spike occurring at this late date. So we wait for any increases from Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. ___ www.frankcastingmediagroup.com www.frankmulhall.com
