Data Without Doctoring Dr. David Owen 08/26/2020

Morning update: No overall change in the trends with continued decreased covid hospitalizations statewide and in the tricounty area. The death numbers will be touted as high by the MSM however the number for today (155) is lower than on the corresponding days for the past few weeks so the trend in deaths continues down as well. Still, of interest is that more deaths continue to be recorded for the last two weeks of July than the first two weeks of August and the drop off in deaths is most impressive between Aug. 6th and 7th. The two days in Aug. before this transition are heading toward 200 deaths recorded, which may occur in a week or two. After that, I see a dramatic decrease in recorded deaths for those days. Hospitalizations continue a nice decline in the state and in Dade and Broward. As like yesterday the bed usage increased slightly in PBC but the numbers are low. All in all continued improvement in the pandemic M&M stats and we are likely beginning the slow decline in daily deaths predicted by the decrease in hospitalizations a few weeks ago. I'm glad PBC is reopening. Later is better than never (ala NYC). Florida management of the pandemic has been appropriate, given the improving data.
